Under siege by debt collectors? Trouble with a home improvement contractor? Treated unfairly or deceptively by a business? We can help.
The Massachusetts Consumer Protection Statute, chapter 93A, prohibits unfair and deceptive conduct by a business. Courts have discretion to award up to triple damages, and because 93A is a fee-shifting statute, a defendant who loses must also pay your attorney fees. Massachusetts consumers can raise 93A claims here against out-of-state businesses that deal with Massachusetts residents by phone, mail or internet.
Debt buyers often purchase charged-off accounts or old judgments for pennies on the dollar, then sue for the full amount plus 12% interest. Experience includes:
- Debt collection lawsuits
- Unfair or deceptive debt collection practices
- Deceptive conduct by a home improvement contractor
- Predatory lending
- Mortgage and loan modification
- Fair Credit Reporting Act claims
- Contract disputes
- False advertising, fraud, or breach of warranty
- Product liability claims
- Private student loan companies or servicers
Employment Law
As an employee, you have rights and protections. Let us help you understand the law.
Wage Act violations. Massachusetts employers must pay for all hours worked and appropriately compensate overtime. If an employer failed to pay earned wages, overtime, vacation pay, commissions or contractual bonuses, or misclassified you as an “independent contractor” to pay you less, you may be entitled to triple damages and your attorney fees.
Wrongful termination and discrimination. Massachusetts is an “at-will” state, but an employer cannot discriminate against or fire you for reasons that violate public policy, such as age, disability, gender or sexual orientation, religion or ethnicity, nor eliminate your position due to pregnancy or time taken under the Family Medical Leave Act.
Family Law

KMT LAW PC handles divorce and custody matters and advocates strenuously to achieve your objectives while minimizing attorney fees and distress. Contact us for a free and confidential consultation.
Foreclosure Defense & Wrongful Foreclosure
The threat of foreclosure is overwhelming and scary. Let us help you understand your options and rights.
Job loss, reduced income, illness, divorce or another setback can put even a responsible homeowner behind on the mortgage. Options to keep your home include loan forbearance, loan modification or bankruptcy. Many clients denied loss-mitigation options have been approved once represented by counsel. If you don’t want to keep the home, a short sale or deed in lieu of foreclosure can buy time in the home or relocation help and soften the credit impact. Get good advice as early as possible.
Massachusetts is a non-judicial foreclosure state, but lenders must strictly follow the statutes governing the “power of sale.” Lenders and servicers often skip required steps, and a foreclosure may be stopped or declared void by the court. KMT LAW PC specializes in foreclosure prevention, defense and wrongful foreclosure litigation.
